A Tale of Two Burgers

We started off the summer with an all-out BBQ feast, Taiwanese style; much thanks to my friends that I didn't have to cook a thing. I provided the bbq, chairs and table, and friends came for good laughs. We all wanted burgerss so our friend, Ben, made his famous Taiwanese burgers. It consists of a pork patty, with a fried egg (yes, that's right), onions, cucumbers, ketchup and a sweeter mayo sauce. Especially for me, Ben made me a tofu burger that's probably the best tofu burger I've ever had. Top it off with loads of tempura and yakitori and Danny's famous corn made meal a success. And the summer just started!

CarbonWare iPhone Cases

I haven't bought a case for my iPhone 3gs yet because cases tend to be bulky. But, I just found this pretty slick silver case made of 100% fiber glass by CarbonWare ($54.95) and by the looks of it, it's barely noticeable. There's also a black version made of 100% carbon fiber. Not sure which one I will get yet, but I should act soon because there's a 10% off coupon: TENOFF.

House Renovation: Master Bathroom

So here it is, the final bathroom renovation in the house: the master bath. It took about a month to finish because of my laziness, but I got it done. Couldn't have done it without some help though, so thanks J. and Danny. You're the best! And I actually managed to finish the last drop of the grey-blue paint that I used for the other bathrooms.

Anthropologie Savannah Story Busts

I've been obsessing with these Anthropologie Savannah Story Busts (made of papier mache) from Anthropologie for awhile and now and I'm very close to closing the deal and getting them for the house. Originally, I envisioned them above the bedframe in the guest bedroom, but they would also go nicely in my soon-to-be-renovated master bedroom, living room, or reading room (what I call my spare bedroom). The giraffe and gazelle are new, so I might have to get all four. They're reasonably priced (at $68 each) for something so whimsical and delightful.

Bedding Purchases

It's been so long since I've done anything to my bedroom. But this is the year where I'm concentrating my time and effort into my most private room, obviously, of the house. I'm 50% done with the master bath; I just need to get new cabinet hinges and knobs, and paint the shower room. In the meantime, I ordered new sheets and covers for the bed while figuring out what colors will go on the wall. Currently, it's stark white, so I'm going to try to warm it up a bit. Even my window panels are white, so that will also get replaced. Goal timeline is to finish within a month... but we'll see.

My coworker, Craig, surprised me yesterday by asking Marc Jacob gifts advice for his friend's birthday. Of course, I jumped at the opportunity to drive him to the Marc by Marc Jacobs store on Melrose. He was concerned about the price, so I suggested the special items that starts at $5. After perusing the store for about 15 minutes, he got her the Small Canvas Jacobs Tote ($28) with a zipper top. I couldn't leave the store empty-handed, so I got the Cotton Jacobs Tote ($15) for a friend who is graduating from the eighth grade in June and a Flower Tote ($18) for myself. We finished the lunch trip at Norm's and headed back to work, just in time for his meeting.

I love the idea that more and more designers are collaborating with each other, but I would have never seen this coming. Target, yes. Juicy Couture, no. But I'm a huge fan of Erin Fetherston ever since Domino Magazine featured her Parisian home in their September 2006 issue. I don't own anything Juicy Couture, but I'm excited to see what she'll come up with for their holiday 2011 collection. Though her primary role will be reimagining the track suit, which celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2011, I'm sure her limited-edition pieces will be worth the effort.

It won't hold everything that I need to carry daily, but it's a good bag to hold just the necessities and a camera and explore LA on a weekends.

I love my Casio gold watch that I got for $24.95 last year. This time around, I'm looking for a more sophisticated timepiece, preferably with a leather band. Windows 7 Wallpapers

I don't have Windows 7 yet because my laptop factory operating system is still Windows Vista. I'm not planning on upgrading unless I just buy a brand new computer. But in the meantime, I'm totally digging the Windows 7 wallpapers. I'm sure it's some part of a theme but the images work just fine on my Vista.

There's a give and take for everything. I love expensive purses, so I got these Xhilaration Saniya Studded Point Toe Flats (Cognac) at Target for $17.99. You really can't beat that, honestly. I always believe that investing in a purse is worth more and lasts longer than shoes. I never put my purses on the ground, so they never get dirty or scuffed up. But shoes, you can always go cheaper but you don't have to sacrifice style. I love the studded details in these shoes, and they're über comfortable. I already have the regular black pointed-toe flats so I know these shoes will last me for a good while.

Louis Vuitton Wallet for J's Birthday

J's birthday is coming up and I need to act fast. It's been years since I can come up with a gift all on my own and without help from friends. I decided I'm going to get him a new wallet: The Louis Vuitton Billfold with 6 Credit Card Slots ($355). But J. has been looking for one with no luck, so that made the process much easier. Haven't decided to get the grey or grizzli, but I'm leaning towards the latter since many of his previous wallets were black. J. is very particular about his wallet: the size, color, texture, etc. He wants a bi-fold wallet with card slots and nothing else. None of that clear ID viewer slot and coin pockets. Just a simple, slim wallet will do. I still have time to find other gifts if this doesn't work out, but I'm sure I'll stick with this gift.

As always, I'm looking for the next little black dress to add to my wardrobe. My inspirations range from Natalie Portmans in Giambattista Valli, Marion Cotillard in Lanvin, and Diane Kruger (not sure of the designer, but I can only guess Chanel)? But for $49.99 (was $148), J.Crew's wool ruffle shift dress is not a bad start. I'd probably leave out the turtleneck and add a belt to enhance the shape.
